WATERFALL

2014

From Olafur Eliasson, the Icelandic-Danish artist known for large-scale sculptures and installations using elemental materials such as ice, water, and light. This artwork was selected because of its depiction of nature’s raw and primal power. A carefully designed sculpture involving a water system using pipes to create a surrealistic waterfall that seemingly comes from nowhere. This connects to the narrative theme of climate change because this artwork can be interpreted as symbolizing the increasing sea-levels, or irregular weather patterns that have occurred in places it shouldn’t due to climate change and the atmospheric temperature increase.
