RIVERBED
2014
From Olafur Eliasson, the Icelandic-Danish artist known for large-scale sculptures and installations using elemental materials such as ice, water, and light. This artwork was selected because of its depiction of nature’s raw and primal power. A room filled corner to corner with rocks, stones, and small water canals to resemble a riverbed. This piece is dystopian in a way, relating to the narrative theme of climate change, the sense of artificial landscaping to resemble the outdoors seemed like a foreshadowing of our possible future to come if climate change isn’t slowed down or controlled.
