POLAR BEAR

2014

From Andrew Burns Colwill, a Fine Art artist from Bristol, United Kingdom with a twist. Colwill incorporates a lot of powerful and heartbreaking messages about climate change into his artworks. Specifically, Colwill focuses on the affect climate change has on wildlife, ranging from Polar Bears and penguins to cows. This connects to the narrative theme of climate change because this artwork depicts Polar Bears with barely any ice left for them to stand and live on. The shapes and silhouettes of the ice resemble manmade objects and machines, such as cars and plastic bottles replacing the ice that the Polar Bears once stood on. It’s simple and straight-forward, while also being powerful and heartbreaking.
